Who writes these checks?

Today we do. Every check on the network is written by the fmcg.network team, and every one names its author, its data sources and what it does not cover, so you can judge the work rather than trust a badge. We will not describe an author as verified or certified, because we do not check professional credentials.

Is there a language model inside the answer?

No. Our code contains no model call of any kind. A check reads a named dataset or fetches the current file from the authority that publishes it, applies rules written down in advance, and returns the result. Your assistant puts that result into words for you.

Do I have to pick the right check myself?

No. You connect fmcg.network once, then ask your question in your own words. Your assistant picks the check that fits and names the one that answered. You can also read the whole list in the directory first if you would rather see it.

What happens when a check does not know?

It says so. An ingredient that is not in the data comes back as not found, and a source we cannot reach comes back as an error rather than as an empty result. Anything the check is unsure about is flagged for a person to look at.

Can I write one myself?

Yes. You write down the data it uses, the rules it follows, the sources it cites and the limits it admits to, and that method is published for readers before anyone relies on it. Your name appears on every answer it gives.

What is written down inside one

A general assistant improvises its answer the moment you ask. All of this was written down before you arrived, and you can read every part of it before you rely on any of it.

The data: The official list the answer is read from, held as data rather than remembered.
The rules: The decision steps, written out in order. Not a summary of the method. The method.
The sources: The regulation, the annex, the authority and the date, named on the answer itself.
The limits: What the check covers, and what it does not. Anything outside that comes back as not checked, never as fine.
The author: One named author, and that name travels with every answer the check gives.
The version: A version number and a list of changes, so an answer from March can be traced back to the check that gave it.

Why every answer can name its source

There is no language model in the answer. A check looks the answer up and hands it back, which is why it can always tell you where it came from.

Your AI assistant does the talking. It does not do the answering. A check reads a named dataset, or fetches the current file from the authority that publishes it, applies the rules that were written down in advance, and returns the result with its source attached. The source is not a citation added at the end. It is where the answer came from.

Label and ingredient checks: They name the regulation and the exact entry, for example Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011, Annex II.
Recalls: They name the authority that published the recall, and the date it was published.
Suppliers: They link to the page the record was collected from, and show when it was collected.

What a Business Capability is not

The first five are the reasons people distrust AI at work. The last one is a different thing that happens to share the name.

It is not a chatbot answer

Nothing is invented. A general assistant writes a confident paragraph because it has no list to check against. A check has the list, and it shows you which line it used.

It is not a prompt

A prompt is text you send and hope for. A check is the data, the rules, the sources and the limits, written down and given a version number before you ever ask.

It is not a verdict

A check reports what a named source says. It never tells you a product is compliant, approved or safe, because that call is not ours to make. An automated check blocks any new capability that tries.

It is not a guess

An ingredient we do not hold comes back as not found, never as fine. When a check is not sure it says so and flags the result for a person to look at, instead of presenting it confidently.

It is not a new tool to open

There is nothing to download, no second dashboard and no interface to teach anyone. A check appears inside the assistant your team already uses, and the answer arrives in the same conversation.

It is not a planning chart

In enterprise software the same two words name a chart of what a company is able to do. Ours is not a chart. It runs, and it hands back an answer with the official source behind it.
